So this is the first time I'm "blogging". I actually just thought about blogging last night and was wondering what could be an interesting blog that people would read. I decided it was food.
My girlfriend started talking to me about gastro-sexuals, which are men who cook to try to impress partners , friends etc. So I figured it was a good name to blog under....so here goes.
I'm going to blog about recipes that you might want to cook and restaurants that you should visit. I don't know much about vino, so I'll keep that out for now. I'll focus on restaurants in Ottawa and Montreal, since Ottawa is where I live and Montreal is the city I love.
So yesterday, my girl and I wanted to go to Isakaya on Parc. But they were closed. It was 9:30 on Thursday night, what the hell....right? Anyway, then I suggested we go to Oishi Sushi on Bernard, corner Parc.
I loved it. The place itself is very chill and cozy. The colour theme was oranage-brown which gave a feeling of warmth with a touch of modernity. We started with 2 for 1 martinis which is the special on Thursdays. They had a pretty decent martini list. We had 2 each ;-)
We didn't eat much, but I started with the Miso soup and had the eel teriyaki. My partner had the edamame and then had the sushi plate. I am by no means a sushi aficionado, but I enjoyed it. The soup was great, and the eel was as fishy as I wanted it to be. Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was modern and young. Spent 60 dollars total including tip so not too bad on the wallet.
So that's it for my virgin post. I'll try a post monthly where to eat out picks for Ottawa and Montreal as well as recipes. The motivation...well I always just wanted to have someone tell me where to go out and what to cook, so I'll try to do that for others.
